  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • Filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Topping
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Spoon a small amount of cream cheese mixture onto the center of each heart.
  5. Place sliced strawberries on top of the cream cheese. Fold edges slightly to create a border.
  6. Brush edges with beaten egg.
  7. Bake 18–20 minutes, until puff pastry is golden and crisp.
  8. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Use firm cream cheese for a thicker filling.
Keep puff pastry cold until ready to bake for best flakiness.
