- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips, M&M’s, pretzels, nuts, and any additional mix-ins.
- Scoop dough into 2-tablespoon balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
- Bake for 11–13 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
Don’t overload with mix-ins—about 2½ cups total is ideal.
For extra festive cookies, press a few candies on top before baking.
Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
