Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Dump cherry pie filling evenly into the bottom of the dish.
- Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the cherry filling—do not mix.
- Distribute butter slices evenly over the top of the cake mix.
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until top is golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
You can substitute white cake mix or chocolate cake mix for a different twist.
Add crushed nuts or coconut on top before baking for extra texture.
For a tarter bite, mix in ½ tsp almond extract with the cherry filling.
