Ingredients

  • 24 vanilla wafer cookies such as sugar wafers
  • ½ cup pink candy melts for erasers
  • ½ cup white candy melts for pencil tips
  • 24 mini chocolate chips for pencil points
  • Yellow or natural colored candy melts optional, for "painted" pencils

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Small bowls for melting candy
  • Parchment paper
  • Spoon or fork for dipping

Method

Shape the tips:
  1. Use a sharp knife to carefully cut one end of each wafer into a point to resemble a pencil tip.
Dip the erasers:
  1. Melt pink candy melts according to package instructions.
  2. Dip the flat (uncut) end of each wafer into the pink candy melts to create the "eraser." Place on parchment paper to set.
Create the pencil tips:
  1. Melt white candy melts.
  2. Dip the pointed ends of each wafer into the white candy melts to create the "wood" part of the pencil.
  3. While still wet, place a mini chocolate chip on the tip as the "lead." Let set.
(Optional) Add color:
  1. If desired, drizzle or brush melted yellow candy melts over the middle of the wafers to make them look like classic yellow pencils.
Set and serve:
  1. Allow all parts to set completely before serving or packaging. Enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
You can use different colored candy melts to create fun, colorful "pencils."
A fun edible craft activity for kids!
