Ingredients

  • 1 package 14.3 oz OREO cookies (about 36 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 12 oz red candy melts
  • Green M&Mโ€™s or green candy-coated chocolates for "leaves"
  • Pretzel sticks broken into small pieces (for "stems")

Equipment

  • Food processor or zip-top bag & rolling pin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Fork or dipping tool
  • Parchment paper

Method

Make the OREO mixture:
  1. Crush OREOs into fine crumbs using a food processor or place in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  2. Mix crushed OREOs and cream cheese together until fully combined and smooth.
Shape the balls:
  1. Scoop and roll mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Chill in the freezer for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
Dip and decorate:
  1. Melt red candy melts according to package instructions.
  2. Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each ball into melted candy, tapping off excess. Place back on the parchment paper.
  3. While coating is still wet, insert a piece of pretzel stick as a "stem" and press a green M&M next to it as a "leaf."
Set and serve:
  1. Let candy coating set completely at room temperature or in the fridge. Serve or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

You can use different colored candy melts to create different "apple" varieties.
Store in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
Use dark chocolate or mint OREOs for a fun flavor twist.
