Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags or 4 tsp loose leaf tea
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 12 oz can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 1 12 oz can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 cups brandy
  • 7 cups water for mixing with juice and brandy
  • Lemon-lime soda Sprite/7-Up or ginger ale, for serving

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Large mixing container with lid (freezer-safe)
  • Freezer
  • Glasses for serving

Method

Brew the tea
  1. Bring 2 cups water to a boil. Add tea bags and steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags.
Make the slush mixture
  1. Stir sugar into hot tea until dissolved.
  2. In a large container, combine tea mixture, orange juice concentrate, lemonade concentrate, brandy, and 7 cups water. Stir well.
Freeze
  1. Cover container and place in the freezer for 6–8 hours or overnight, stirring occasionally during the first few hours if possible. Mixture will freeze into a soft, scoopable slush.
Serve
  1. Scoop slush into glasses. Top with lemon-lime soda or ginger ale. Stir gently and serve with a spoon or straw.

Notes

For a stronger kick, add an extra ½ cup of brandy.
For a lighter version, replace half the brandy with additional orange juice.
Store slush in the freezer for up to 3 months. Just scoop and serve when ready.
