Ingredients

  • 2 large apples Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great
  • 20 –24 wooden sticks or popsicle sticks
  • 1 11 oz bag soft caramels (about 35 pieces)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts crushed cookies, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, melted chocolate drizzle

Equipment

  • Baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Wooden sticks
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Prep the Apples
  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Slice each apple into ½-inch thick wedges. Pat them dry again — moisture prevents caramel from sticking!
Insert the Sticks
  1. Insert a wooden stick into the base of each apple slice. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly coat it with nonstick spray.
Melt the Caramel
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramels and heavy cream. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth and creamy.
Dip the Apple Slices
  1. Dip each slice halfway into the warm caramel, allowing any excess to drip off. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Add Toppings
  1. While the caramel is still soft, sprinkle or drizzle your favorite toppings — nuts, sprinkles, or a swirl of melted chocolate.
Chill & Serve
  1. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes, just until the caramel sets. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Keep it dry: Moisture is the enemy of caramel — make sure apples are completely dry before dipping.
Quick tip: Stick the apple slices in the fridge for a few minutes before dipping — the caramel sticks better to cold fruit.
Storage: Best enjoyed the same day, but you can refrigerate leftovers for up to 24 hours.
Topping ideas: Crushed pretzels, coconut flakes, or a pinch of sea salt for a gourmet touch.
