These Christmas Popcorn Balls are sweet, sticky, and loaded with holiday cheer! Made with marshmallows, butter, and popcorn, then dressed up with red and green candies or sprinkles, they’re a nostalgic and easy treat everyone will love.

Ingredients
  

  • 10 cups plain popped popcorn about ⅓ cup kernels
  • ¼ cup ½ stick unsalted butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup red and green M&Ms or mini candies
  • Holiday sprinkles optional

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Spatula

Method
 

  1. Prepare popcorn
  2. Pop popcorn and place it in a large bowl, discarding any unpopped kernels.
  3. Melt marshmallow mixture
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows, stirring constantly until smooth. Stir in vanilla and a pinch of salt.
  5. Combine
  6. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn. Stir with a spatula until evenly coated.
  7. Add festive mix-ins
  8. Fold in M&Ms and/or sprinkles quickly before it cools too much.
  9. Form balls
  10. Lightly grease your hands with butter or cooking spray. Shape mixture into 12 balls and place them on wax paper to cool.

Notes

Add a candy cane stick in each one for a fun handle.
Wrap individually in cellophane and tie with a ribbon for gifting.
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
