Ingredients

  • 1 lb carrots peeled and cut into sticks or rounds
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or fresh parsley for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Saucepan (optional for blanching)
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Cook Carrots:
  1. In a large skillet, add carrots and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then simmer 5–7 minutes until just tender. Drain.
Glaze:
  1. Return carrots to the skillet. Add butter, brown sugar (or honey), salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the glaze is thickened and carrots are coated, about 5–7 minutes.
Optional Garnish:
  1. Sprinkle with cinnamon or fresh parsley before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

Make ahead: Carrots can be cooked and glazed a few hours in advance; reheat gently before serving.
Add flavor twist: Drizzle a little orange juice into the glaze for a citrusy note.
Texture tip: Don’t overcook carrots; they should stay tender but not mushy.
