Ingredients

  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • ½ cup granulated sugar or brown sugar for a richer flavor
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon optional
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone mat
  • Spatula or spoon

Method

Preheat oven
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Prepare glaze
  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter with sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until sugar is mostly dissolved and mixture is smooth.
Coat pecans
  1. Add pecans to the saucepan and stir until all nuts are evenly coated with the glaze.
Bake
  1. Spread coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 12–15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the nuts are golden and fragrant.
Cool
  1. Remove from oven and let the glazed pecans cool completely. They will harden as they cool.
Serve or store
  1. Enjoy as a snack, use to top salads, desserts, or oatmeal, or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Stir frequently while baking to prevent burning and ensure even caramelization.
For a more decadent twist, drizzle with melted chocolate after cooling.
Can substitute pecans with walnuts, almonds, or cashews.
