Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
Optional:
  • finely chopped nuts pecans, almonds for coating

Method
 

Preheat oven
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the dough
  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in vanilla extract.
  1. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Shape cookies
  1. Roll dough into 1-inch balls.
  2. Optional: Roll each ball in finely chopped nuts for a nutty exterior.
  3. Place cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake
  1. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft.
  2. Remove from oven and let cookies cool for 5 minutes.
Dust with powdered sugar
  1. While still warm, lightly dust cookies with powdered sugar.
  2. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before storing.

Notes

For a classic meltaway texture, do not overbake; cookies should remain tender in the center.
These cookies can be dipped in chocolate or drizzled with glaze for extra indulgence.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
