Method
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- On the unbuttered side, layer 1 slice of mozzarella, 4 pepperoni slices, a tablespoon of pizza sauce, and another slice of cheese.
- Top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Place sandwich on the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Add cooked sausage, mushrooms, or olives for a deluxe version.
- Substitute with gluten-free bread or dairy-free cheese if needed.
- Use marinara sauce in place of pizza sauce if that’s what you have on hand.
